May 8. 2019: Orientation Session for Graduate School Application

On May 8th, 2019, the Government and International Relations Programme Association organized a special orientation session for graduate school application in the lecture hall on UIC campus. Around 30 students from Year 1 to Year 4 attended the event and learned from senior GIR students and alumni about how to better prepare for the possible postgraduate school applications.

This event started with Programme Director Dr. Edoardo Monaco speaking about the importance of identifying a true interest and of the quality study at UIC. He suggested to explore one’s own aspirations and interests so as to best fulfill them when selecting potential target universtities.

Then, a list of outstanding students shared their experience and suggestion on these matters. HE Yuchu, who is studying in Georgetown University at the moment, offered her advice on how to best approach the demanding and yet colorful life in the USA. Vicky (WANG Luwei), admitted to University College London, believed that when studying abroad, mental health and safety is just as important as good grades. Letty (HUANG Jiaying) in Year 4 talked particularly about some common challenges when applying for Hong Kong and UK universities.
